The Sacramento County Office of Education is seeking a talented and dedicated Director I, English Language Arts K-12 to join our team. The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices of education in California. Approximately 780 regular and more than 815 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. SCOE provides technical assistance, curriculum and instructional support, staff development, legal and financial advice, and oversight to Sacramento County school districts. SCOE plays a leadership role in the delivery of quality education to the students in Sacramento County. SCOE directly educates more than 30,000 children and adults—which includes thousands of district teachers who attend training sessions and workshops each year. SCOE also provides support services to more than 253,000 students (source: 2023–24 DataQuest) in 13 school districts. Annual salary: $174,896 per year (2025-26)

Job Summary
Under general direction, develops, plans, coordinates, manages and provides professional development activities and coaching in English Language Arts for teachers; maintains general oversight of online registration and attendance; oversees the development and delivery of these and related programs; provides technical assistance to Local Education Agencies; develops content courses for online providers; performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential and a valid California teaching credential based on a bachelor’s degree in education or related to English Language Arts, and student teaching. Successful experience in the development, administration and monitoring of English Language Arts curriculum and instructional programs in elementary and secondary grades; progressively responsible experience in providing professional development in English Language Arts for grades K-12; experience working in schools as an outside agent.
